“Nice Here,
But Have You Ever Been to Latin Village?”
(2024)

This project was developed in collaboration with UNIT38, responding to a live brief focused on the ongoing campaign to reopen the Seven Sisters Indoor Market, also known as the Latin Village or Wards Corner Market, in Tottenham, London. Once a vital community hub for the area’s Latin American population, the market has been closed for over five years.

Our group engaged directly with local residents and traders to explore the cultural significance of the space and better understand its impact. This research helped inform a wider conversation around cultural preservation, urban regeneration, and community led design.

We proposed a sticker campaign using the phrase “It’s nice here. But have you been to Latin Village?” to highlight the market’s importance and draw attention to the efforts to revive it. Each sticker features a QR code linking to thisislatinvilage.cargo.site, where visitors can explore personal stories from former traders.

The project aimed to amplify local voices, celebrate cultural identity, and make visible a place at risk of being forgotten.
